Copenhagen in Fall

We were pretty sad to kiss goodbye to summer and having fun on the beach, but we’re a fun loving bunch at Copenhagen Downtown Hostel and we’re just as happy to have Fall arrive. That means putting our scarves on, getting on our bikes for a ride to the nearest park, and enjoying kicking leaves in the sunshine. And of course lots of beer for Oktoberfest!

With plenty of things to see this October including Culture Night on October 14th, we’re excited at the changing season. Check our some of the things we recommend doing in Fall here in Copenhagen!

A Walk in the Park

Fælledsparken

This big park is more like a nature park - located between Nørrebro and Østerbro, right behind the main hospital, Rigshospitalet. Our favorite feature is the lake and secret paths through the trees but there is also a skate park and the usual recreational areas.

Østre Anlæg

This park is right above the botanical garden and just behind the National Gallery of Denmark. This park has lots of lakes and is one of our favorites for a woodland escape from the city.

The Botanical Garden

This is one of three parks located right next to each other in the city center. The Botanical Garden has a lake, landscaped garden areas and an indoors greenhouse with rare plants.

Our favourite Museums

On a rainy day there’s nothing better than dipping into one of Copenhagen’s museums that are packed full of great things to see! Here are some of our favourites..

National Gallery of Denmark

Denmark’s largest art museum with pieces dating back to the 14th century.

The National Museum of Denmark

A museum of cultural history of Denmark and just around the corner from us.

Museum of Copenhagen, Free on Fridays

This museum is a great place to see what Copenhagen looked like in the past.

Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, Free on Sundays

This museum has an awesome collection from around the world including ancient Egypt, with the best indoor garden to chill out in and enjoy the peace! Right by our hostel!

Forget ice creams, it’s now the season for hot drink! Our favorites are mulled wine and spiced apple cider. Perfect on an autumn day. We also have the best hot chocolates and organic coffees.. together with some delicious pastries. Try Harbo Bar on Blågårdsgade.

Get snuggly at the movies

Fall is a great time to get cosy with some popcorn and enjoy a movie. And what better excuse than now the evenings are getting dark earlier. There’s an impressive cinema centrally located that’s old and traditionally decorated - the Grand Teatret.

Of course the best place to get cosy and enjoy a hot chocolate is our hostel bar! Come and say hi at Copenhagen Downtown Hostel!
