Torvehallerne Market

Torvehallerne Market is the best place in Copenhagen to sample a selection of delicious food and drinks; they even have space outside for enjoying your beer in the sunshine and making new friends. There is plenty of choice from traditional Danish food to amazing Spanish tapas, along with music festivals, markets, beer tastings and art and craft markets behind.

This is a great place to grab a drink, some food and enjoy the sunshine!

A great place to explore

Centrally located by Norreport station, this market area is a relatively new addition to the Danish food scene and now a very popular place in Copenhagen to eat, drink and socialise.

There are over 60 stands selling everything from condiments and spices to Danish style porridge. There are plenty of organic stalls and home grown local produce, such as the the urban farmers market - Omegn selling everything from cheese to sausage. Grab a coffee from the famous Coffee Collective and have a stroll around!

Spices and Condiments - La Cucina Nadas

Inside the two market buildings there are shops and restaurants, selling everything from sushi to tapenade. This is a great place to buy fresh fish, meat and cheeses, but if you’re looking for something more immediate, they have everything from Danish pastries to Italian delicacies. If you want to try the best tapas outside Spain then head to Tapa del Toro for Danish infused tapas from pickled herring and smoked salmon to the more traditional jamon.

Amongst the fresh flowers and plants outside there are tables to sit in the sun, and there is always something in the new square behind, whether a festival or market, to catch your eye.

Bornholmner Butikken

For something traditionally Danish try Bornholmer Butikken. They specialise in delicacies such as cheese and chocolate from the Danish island of Bornholm, known for traditional smoked herring.

The best sandwich in Copenhagen is supposedly the duck confit and rocket one from Ma Poule, although the Danish traditional open sandwich (smorrebrod) is one of the best things we’ve ever tasted! Ma Poule is a French stall famous for great wines and French delicacies such as foie gras. Grab a glass of sparkling wine here and a plate of charcuterie and sit at the bar to chat to the locals.

If you want something more international with a twist, Gorm’s makes traditional Italian pizzas but with a twist of Danish ingredients.
