Innovation
Copenhagen Downtown is ambitious: We want to mirror the experimental development and renewal that exists in Denmark. On an ongoing basis, up to five international up-and-coming artists of various genres are invited to come live at Copenhagen Downtown free of charge. That way their art can develop in interaction with each other. At the same time, we invite street artists to come inside and generate events in areas like music, poetry, sculpture, film, design and innovation. Young artists, architects, actors, musicians and stand-up comedians are welcome to perform at Copenhagen Downtown and exhibit their personal art in the café as well as on every one of the floors of the hostel. We will only be proud, if some of the future’s great artists can say they stayed at Copenhagen Downtown.

Meeting point
Our ambition is to be a true reception room of the world. We want to create meeting points where people can link up in an informal environment. We have the capacity to welcome 50.000 guests annually for overnight accommodation and a multi-facetted cultural experience. We like to compare ourselves to other true cultural hostels like the ‘Circus Hostel’ in Berlin or ‘Gershwin’ in New York. Here, the informal environment allures people to connect and interact.

Inspiration is important. Local citizens using our café facilities next to the ‘Vandkunsten’ will sense the international vibrations and be inspired by notes of foreign culture.

Multiplicity
We make room for the contrasts and differences that form a metropolis. A monotonous and regimented environment is not challenging, but only hinders development and renewal. Therefore, the Copenhagen Downtown hostel welcomes events, demonstrations, congresses and parades that will add to the creation of a visible and manifold life.

The low price is crucial for the kind of environment and multiplicity we want to create.
