Where to Find the Best Breakfast and Brunch in Copenhagen

Everybody's favourite easy meal is the classic brunch - for that time of day when you want a bit of everything to set you up for some sight seeing and ease you into the day. Brunch has become popular in Copenhagen with a host of restaurants delivering top notch buffets and dishes to brunch fans, from made to order pancakes and traditional Danish grog (or fancy porridge), to home-baked bread and freshly squeezed juices. Here are some of favourite places to enjoy our eggs sunny side up!!

Cafe Europa

City center

Although this is a classy restaurant bang in the city center, it actually has a very reasonably priced brunch menu available, and a great location. Opposite another of our favourite Brunch spots at Cafe Norden, this is a good spot to enjoy their home roasted coffee if you're busy shopping in town and want to grab a bite to eat.

Gomez

Nørrebro

This cosy cafe has some great design to welcome you in to their plant filled and candelit interior, or a terrace with seats in the sun (afternoon) to enjoy their homemade lemonade or tasty sandwiches. But at the weekend, this place offers an excellent Brunch- one with all the usual delicious ingredients such as eggs and bacon, but also features some tasty Merguez sausages. Try this along with their homemade refreshing juices and you've got yourself a delicious start to the day! Brunch served until 3pm Saturday and Sunday only.

Cafe Bang and Jensen

Vesterbro

This cosy cafe is open until late and has been here over 20 years - located in an old pharmacy. You can get an awesome brunch here (and food all day) until the cocktail bar takes over at night. Expect some good chill out DJs and friendly staff!

Sidecar

Nørrebro

This is Brunch Heaven for those who like a buffet selection of cold cuts, salads, the ever popular avocado toasts and your eggs made hot to order. Sidecar has a double life as a Asian street food bar half the week with an excellent range of Bao to enjoy - so it's win win whatever the day!!

Mad & Kaffe

Vesterbro

This hip cafe is seriously popular for brunch since it's recent arrival on the Vesterbro restaurant scene in 2015 and now there are 3 of them! You can create your own breakfast and their freshly baked bread is ecological. They've also won awards for best cafe in Copenhagen, so - there you go!

Cafe Dyrehaven

Dyrehaven is a gem of a café with a breakfast menu (9-12 or 10 to midday at the weekends) to match. This café is popular with locals found in the hip area of Vesterbro serves up a delicious breakfast offering including traditional open sandwiches, eggs benedict, skyr and more to tempt the appetite.  During the summer there’s pavement side people watching too!

Why not try something intellectual to get those juices flowing? At Paludan Book & Café on Fiolstræde you can tuck into a tasty breakfast surrounded by books! This café in the city’s old Jewish quarter is a must for book lovers. In former times this place not only sold but published books too. Today you can eat and buy a great novel at the same time!
