Sleeping in Copenhagen: why choose the Downtown Hostel, by Italian Travel Bloggers 'Spiccando il Volo'
Why Choose Copenhagen Downtown Hostel?.....
"Because it is convenient, in the center and extremely cool!"
"I chose the Downtown Hostel primarily for its location, placed in the old city of Copenhagen and close to Stroget, the oldest pedestrian street in Denmark. Within a 20-minute walk you can reach the train station, the Christiania district and most of the tourist attractions. Coming from Kastrup airport, you can take the convenient Metro, get off at Kongens Nytorv and then walk about ten minutes (passing the pedestrian shopping avenue) before reaching the hostel. Nearby there are many restaurants, cafes, pubs and the course with the most popular stores like Lego Store!"

Room types for everyone
"At Copenhagen Downtown Hostel are single, double and triple rooms with private or shared, and dorms from 4 to 10 people, but only in the female version. Rooms strike immediately for their colorful decor and eclectic. While the general atmosphere of the hostel refers to the Scandinavian tradition, the rooms are a riot of colors and special accessories. The design and attention to detail are the highlight of this hostel!"
"As I was entering my room, I met by chance the designer who is working on designing the style of some rooms again. We stopped for a chat and he told me what he was doing. Morten Varano, in addition to being a designer, graduated in psychology, but has always worked in the music industry in the wake of projects such as Puddu Varano Varano, Slow Train Soul and Los Chicharrons. He also manages two bars in Copenhagen, the Høker and Whammy Bar. For the Downtown Hostel has designed and well-designed 55 rooms in total, including doubles and dorms.”
"The 70’s characterize the dormitories that are decorated with wallpaper with a retro flavor, lamps and mirrors that come from flea markets of Danish and Berlin shops. As he told me, he tried to join the classic Danish design (think of Verner Panton) with motifs that recall the decade instead of the legendary seventies. But then there's the icing on the cake. Many images of the great artists of the music stand out on the walls, from Bowie to Prince until Hendrix. The hostel's sixth floor is inspired instead by the Op Art, based on optical suggestion effects, through images offering the iconic skyline of the capital with the roofs of houses, churches and parliament (only the latter two buildings have a ' height of over 5 floors, the maximum allowed for the historic centre)."
Because Sociability and Sharing are the First Rule!
"The hostel is the perfect place for backpackers and independent travelers. The opportunity to get to know a lot of people from all over the world and have a chat is actually really high thanks to the many large and comfortable common areas, and events that are organized within the hostel. For example, every day from 8pm to 9pm is the aperitif (with discounted drinks for those who stay), offering quality craft beers on tap. At Downtown there are two bars, one upstairs and one downstairs. The bar is frequented by many people, not just hostel guests but also locals living in Copenhagen. You sip a beer, you read a book, you lie down on the comfortable sofas and socialize with other travelers. The hostel's essence is this!!"
"The price of the room / bed if booked directly from the site, also includes dinner. Every evening, from 18.30, you can enjoy a buffet dinner shared with other guests in the bar below the plane. Although the time a little early for us Italians, the idea of including the free dinner for guests of the hostel is really interesting. As you can imagine, considering the cost of living is still higher than in other European countries, a dinner really saves anything. Otherwise you can use the shared kitchen, equipped with everything needed to prepare a good dish on the fly."
Because they know how to welcome you and offer a lot of services!
"The hostel is very active and organizes many events in twice a week and every Saturday night there are indeed concerts, beer pong tournaments and projections. The reception is always open and the guys are very kind and ready to give you all the necessary information. I loved how they cater to guests with a lot of care and attention, asking questions about their stay or the journey that is about to start. They always seem relaxed and excited, just what we expect from those who work in the reception and the travelers (just like me)."
"Another aspect that has prompted me to choose it, when I asked the question "where to stay in Copenhagen", is the possibility to take part in free guided tours on foot. The hostel collaborates with an agency that offers a series of free tours , or rather based on a tip, telling the peculiarities of the city. Just ask the reception and you will see the daily tours and time. The guides will take participants directly in the hostel lobby and, after ten minutes, it's off to explore the Danish capital . I have not made up the chance and I took the tour of Christiania with a group of Spanish tourists. Two hours to discover one of the most scenic locations in Copenhagen in good company. Of these free tour we talked about it HERE."
"My personal experience has been positive in the hostel. I recommend it to a young audience, accustomed to the environment and ready to immerse yourself in an atmosphere like this, and Solo travel here might find good company during relaxing moments."
